Frequently Asked Questions
Can GardenStax be installed directly on the ground or do they need to be installed on a base?
If you are installing GardenStax on a sealed surface such as concrete or asphalt, it is recommended to have a base. This could be made from a pallet or any other timber.
GardenStax can be installed directly onto soil. Simply locate in the position that you want and push the hinge lugs into the ground. You can lay a weedmat or landscape fabric first if you wish. Just cut slits in the fabric for the hinge lugs to pass through into the soil.
Do GardenStax need to be lined?
We recommend to line GardenStax with a weedmat. etc, when installing the GardenStax directly onto soil, potting mix or topsoil can be added directly. If you wish to line GardenStax, use a non-woven weedmat or landscape fabric/geotextile such as DuraForce® or WeedStop.
What happens to the metal lugs when installing GardenStax on a paved area?
They can be easily bent in with a hammer to lie flat against the bottom edge of the timber.
